Hey guys,
I got the bike running, and man I can feel the turbo in first gear, it flys to about 60mph, then it stops. Even when I shift it won't go any higher than about 60~70 mph. I removed the internals of the fuel check valve, got a new air filter, replaced the plugs and gapped them to .026". The old plugs were white and chalky, indicating the bike is running lean, I think. The bike also seems to have oil coming from the turbo into the intake. The wastegate is blocked off due to excessive corrosion at the flapper. I was riding it up an down the interstate near my house, and I could not get this thing over 70 down hill with the wind behind me. The rpm and boost will peg out in first, but after than the engine seems to only rev to about 4000~5000 and boost will go about 3/4 of the way over at full throttle. I talked to several people at local shops, they think the turbo compressor seal is bad, and needs to be replaced. A friend of mine who owns an old turbo Eclipse says it could be forcing oil into the intake and killing the engine. The problem I have is that the bike still runs fine and idles great after I peg it out. I think I may need to clean the carbs, I have a full can of Seafoam. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
