All right, I've had my seca for two years now, and it's been working great. Recently though, I began getting gas mixed with my oil. No big deal, I just
shut the petcock off every time I stop. The problem is my bike will only run on the "prime" setting on the petcock. As soon as I turn the petcock to
the "on" position the bike starts to stutter and run on three cylinders. Swithc it back to prime, and the bike cleans out and runs all right.
What's going on! This is really frustrating me. It's been running flawlessly up until now. Does anyone have any ideas?

Looks like your Turbo has two problems. One, your fuel check valve is shot (that's why you have to turn your petcock OFF to keep fuel from flowing into
your carbs). No biggie -- you can run the bike with the check valve removed (remove the tank and you'll see it attached to the fuel pump), as long as you
remember to shut the petcock after when the bike sits. I think there's a post here, somewhere, about disassembling the valve and removing the inside
pieces.
Two, the rubber gasket in the petcock is deteriorated. Best to remove the petcock, completely disassemble it, and bring all the rubber parts (forgot what else -- if anything else -- is in there) to your local Yamaha dealer and have him match them up with replacement parts. |

Actually I found the problem. The number 1 carb had a piece chip off of the area for the needle and where the needle seated , and I had tried to JB weld the
old piece back into place. Well, the JB weld didn't like the gasoline much and fell apart, and then allowed gas to run past the needle, which was always
flooding the number 1 cylinder. I should have thought about that sooner since I did this about a year ago, and gasoline was in the header pipe for that
cylinder. So, does anyone have a spare carb? I'll be posting a wanted ad soon. Thanks for the reply turbosteve!
