Took out the Seca yesterday after 3 months of inactivity. It seemed to runs fine at low RPM's but it ran rough at higher RPM's and the turbo would
not kick in. I thought it might have to do with the fuel valve under the tank as I have worked on that before but I have also noticed that the fuel pump runs
continously when I turn the switch on and the bike is parked but not running. I don't remember that happening before. Is there by pass valve that might
be stuck or?
I have had the bike for 15 years and never had any turbo issues.
Any help or thoughts is appreciated.

Fuel pump should not run until you press the starter motor, also it should switch off when you kill the engine. If you not getting any boost check for leaks in your piping from the compressor side of the turbo to your carbs. Also you may want to check that your wastegate is not stuck in the open position. SecaGazz, Thank you for your input. Do you or anyone know what I need to check to correct the fuel pump running when the switch is turned on. I have not
experienced this previously.

Jerome, I don't really understand why the pump is always running, especially as it's not caused any problems for you before. When you say it's running when parked, do you mean, engine off but ignition on and the pump still runs? There is a fuel pump relay which would be a good place to look for faults to start with. |

Let me share a couple of other items I found out this weekend that may help you assist me. I took out the little valve as I thought it might be part of the problem. Once I did the bike now runs fine at low and medium RPM's. When the RPM's get up to where the turbo should kick in it kind of coughs and I hear a medium lound "Bam Bam Bam" and the bike loses some of its RPM's. The turbo boost gauge shows some boost but it fades and I do not feel any true boost in torque. I thought it might be starving for air but I am not sure. Regarding the fuel pump, it runs when the bike is stationary and I turn the switch on and it does not stop. Is there a pressure regulator that is supposed to shut the pump off? I also had a little trouble with the solenoid kicking in the starter but it seems okay now. As you can see I am not a mechanic but do have the large manual for the bike that helps me. I will look for the relay switch you mentioned. The only problem I have had in the past with the bike is the valve has been finicky. I also re-worked the fuel %*%% so that it would not leak. Otherwise no issues or problems. Thank you once again for your help and the help of any others who may have some ideas. Jerome |

If your fuel pump runs as soon as you turn the key on (engine and starter motor not turning), something is wrong. The fuel pump is designed to run all the
time, as soon as the engine is running (or starter motor is turning). There is a fuel pressure regulator and a bypass circuit so that excess fuel is returned
to the tank. The explosions you hear may be the engine going lean from lack of fuel. You may not have adequate fuel pressure from either a bad pump or bad
regulator.
