This is my first post. This site and you people (hopefully now 'us people') are amazing. I just purchased, for $400 a 1982 Seca Turbo from the
original owner who purchased the bike new in California (does that spell trouble?) in 83. It has 37000 miles and hasn't been run for about 2 years. The
carbs look good with some old gas that still seemed pretty fluid but still had that nice rich smell! Drained them and the tank and pumped thru some fresh gas,
changed the oil and put some oil in the spark plug holes and turned the engine over with the starter for about a minute. Anyway, it started up just fine but
now I have a few questions that I couldn't find the answers to from the forum
1. First of all, what is the best way to check for information using this site? Just research questions using the forum? I didn't find much 'tech help' for this bike.
2. After the bike warmed up for about 3 minutes, it started smoking like a misquito fogger! Read about oil from the turbo if the check valve isn't working properly. I've run it for about 20 minutes now and still fogging out the neighbors. Is there a way to drain or pump out the excess oil? Or maybe the rings aren't sealing properly?
3. I can't give it any throttle as it will kill on me. Just idle with the choke on. Can someone discribe where the gas filters are or where I would be best to look for a gas restriction. I can hear the pump running , as I found out from you guys, by putting the bike in gear and pushing the starter, but I'm not sure I'm actually getting enough gas to the carbs.
4. The monitor, when running, is blinking on and off and the gas ikon and battery ikon are lit up. I know I have about 2 gallons of gas in the tank and the headlight is nice a bright so I think I'm putting out amps from the charging system.
