Will send/add pics later, but here's the skinny: (Both are in Clovis, CA).
1982 Yamaha is running fine, I commute 65mi each day on her, have been for 4 months. Have realized bike commuting is not what I remember from college.
I have the title, it's current, but not registered in my name (bought it early this year). You can register in your name no hassle.
What I'd do to it if I were to keep it: new tires, new steering head bearings, new clutch springs (have them in hand), new pet $%++ gaskets, probably check the blow valve.
However: runs strong, very fast. 43mpg blasting, over 50mpg when commuting. looks nice, all original parts are there, some minor scapes and cracks, but hey, for a 26 year olds, I still get asked "is it really a turbo?" And that whine is like a fine wine...OK, I had fun, now it someone else's turn. 18K mi. Make an offer, I'm hoping to 'nominal' auction this puppy. Winner will be offered to come look, ride and decide.
If no sale, I'll contact the next guy etc.
Alright, Kawi was bought sight unseen from a guy in Sacramento I have limited papers, a buddy picked it up (your job to register, might be able to find original owner contact info). It ran - hard. I had 2 weeks of fun. Bad news: probably spun a main bearing. Lucky, it was on a cold startup, so low RPM's. Will need a tear-down, and new main bearings. Turbo was great, no slop. Everything is there, complete, assembled, I have not touched it. May have been a semi-serious guy's bike at some stage, has safety wired nuts etc. New (replacement) windscreen still in package, plus owners manual, turbo supplement etc. Plastics look clean, speedo indicates 25K
I paid $2K, will take much less, but I know what it's worth as a parts bike, same sale, high offer gets it - within reason. If I kept it, would need the rebuild, and maybe the oil passage upgrade. Other than that, a shiny great bike. Any one asking for parts willing to anti up $1,000 will get what you want up to 75% of the bike, I'll ebay the rest,
